More specifically, you`ll be able to make maps (multiplayer and skirmish), missions (standard), and mod missions (edited ini`s).
We are still working out the details on how to import new textures for the models. Which might be included in the release build or patched in. Not sure yet.
Question: Just curious, how far is Westwood going with mod support? Are you just gonna let us edit the INI, and leave it to the community to figure out model formats, sound formats, etc.. Or are you going to be completely open on the formats, and give us some kind of export plugin for 3DSMax/gmax?
Answer: These particulars the team is still flushing out. We do expect to post formal tutorials on the site for mod/map makers to download and use.
When online, the game will be able to tell the difference between mod and official maps. Heck you`ll even be able to download new players maps at the press of a button.
Question: Basically, they may or may not give us the mod tools. Technically, EAP is a new company and it needs $ to keep its studio running which means a new software product.I don`t think they`ll spend much time on mod tools. What you should do is not hype yourself for the mod tools to be released since if they don`t release any, you won`t be dissapointed. If they do release it "then that`s great!".
Answer: Umm, no, basically it comes down to development time.
Either way it will be much easier for maps and mod missions to be made since fans will have the same tools (for once) that the development team uses
Question: Man I wish They Would give us some more info about the map maker,But How will you download maps at the press of a button?Give us some info on that,it sounds cool.
Answer: It will all be intergrated into the game. Basically you login, press download new maps, and BAM! You have new player made maps.
Question: Can you define mod missions more clearly? Is there going to be an unit editor which allows creation of new units in those mod missions? Or changing the units?
Answer: You`ll be able to edit the units abilities and stats, map settings, and if all goes well incorporate new textures and sounds.
